Redefining
the classical nude, with historical references to the paintings
of the Pre-Raphaelites or the Quattrocento Masters, Iris Brosch’s
work is a recovery of sensuality and eroticism through a positive
reaffirmation of femininity and beauty from a contemporary photographic
point of view. She creates a female universe in an attempt to
establish an idealised image of feminine intimacy but not through
the objectification of the body, but quite the contrary, through
a positive empowerment and celebration of all things feminine.
In LIBERTAS she presents a mixed media installation creating
a pagan shrine/sanctuary/palace to femininity using photography,
projections and possibly live models challenging the viewer
with images that are able to affect our unconsciousness, dreams
and desires. |
