In all the images of this series a single being is photographed.
With this the artist wishes to reinforce the principle of singularity
that the original image establishes with its model, unique and
determinate. However this being, through photography, becomes
indeterminate. He stops being one to be another, to be only a
part or to be multiplied, to cancel himself out. Photography interferes
with his representation, with the vision of his limbs, creating
bizarre and unimaginable beings. Photography becomes the concrete
memory of a being which never existed but in somehow happened.
As if photography could fix oneiric images, images that only exist
within the intellect – photographs of the noumenon –,
although being fully aware that they are merely transcriptions
of sensitive phenomena. However, what is registered does not mirror
the lived experience with the real experience, but on the contrary
it goes way beyond what was, creating a choreography that reflects
intentions, gestures or internal narratives which allow the creation
in fixed images of a certain flux of the imagination. |
