Masasam bids you farewell
Almost nine years ago, Masasam started a fabulous adventure creating a platform specialised in curatorial projects and the photographic image. Today we have decided to put an end to this great experience.
It all began in Egypt where we met. We both felt the need to question the dominant forms of representation and to foster other ways of seeing. This led us to defend projects and artists from neglected geographies in order to retrace existing biased maps.
Our approach to curating and event organisation has been all encompassing. We like to take care of each project at all levels and are very demanding even with the smallest details. Our roles were shared out naturally in view of our personal and professional skills. Our complementary personalities have been Masasam’s mark of distinction, having developed a collective curatorial style with a defined international touch.
Today we have decided to embark on another trip, but this time separately.
We are very proud of having grown within Masasam and have given the very best of ourselves. For those of you who have walked alongside us, we wanted to thank you and express our heartfelt gratitude. It has been a real pleasure to work with you and in many cases it has led to lasting friendships.
We will both continue our activities in the photographic world in Madrid, Paris and beyond, and we sincerely hope to carry on seeing you and sharing new exciting projects together.
See you very soon,
Sandra Maunac and Mónica Santos
